Anastasia Shivrina
Anastasia Shivrina (b. 1991, Italy) is a Russian movement artist and painter based between Mexico City and Berlin. With over two decades as a contemporary dancer performing internationally, she expanded her practice to painting after relocating from Paris to Mexico in 2020, merging the transience of performance with the permanence of visual form.
Shivrina’s work is a meditation on the invisible forces that shape our bodies, perceptions, and environments. Her practice bridges disciplines to celebrate the body as a powerful visual language, translating the essence of movement into a suspended, timeless space. Gesture becomes both subject and medium, a continuous, embodied inquiry into memory, presence, and transformation.
Her paintings distill the fleeting nature of dance into still compositions, echoing the rhythm and structure of choreography while balancing the geometric clarity of Suprematism with the emotive freedom of Abstract Expressionism. In doing so, Shivrina affirms the power of the individual gesture, honoring art’s capacity to transcend narrative and speak through sensation.
