Lukas Heerich

Lukas Heerich (b. 1989, Germany) is an artist whose multi-sensory practice encompasses sculpture, installation, photography, and sound. His work navigates the tension between protection and exposure, isolation and presence, often drawing on themes of power, containment, and control. Combining rigorous material research with personal experience, Heerich creates environments and objects that resonate on both physical and psychological levels.

Heerich works extensively with industrial materials such as rubber, stainless steel, lime, and flame retardant, transforming them into sculptural forms that evoke architectural structures, bodily traces, and socio-political systems. Sound functions as a sculptural medium in his installations, underscoring the emotional and spatial impact of his work. His objects, whether pleated rubber membranes, suspended skins, or large-scale interventions, explore the body's place within institutional, militarized, and consumerist structures.

Heerich studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and Städelschule Frankfurt, where he graduated in 2020.
