Timur Si-Qin

Timur Si-Qin (b. 1984, Berlin) is an artist and writer whose practice explores spirituality, ecology, and the relationship between humans and the non-human world in the context of climate change and biodiversity collapse. Raised between German, Mongolian-Chinese, and San Carlos Apache cultural contexts, his work is informed by a plural understanding of nature, belief, and identity.

Working across 3D-printed sculpture, hyperreal image-making, virtual environments, text, and installation, Si-Qin challenges inherited distinctions between the natural and the synthetic, the human and non-human, and the sacred and technological. At the center of his practice is New Peace, an ongoing meta-project that proposes a post-secular ecological faith for a globalized and technologically saturated world. Conceived as an artwork, belief system, visual language, and distributed network of symbols, New Peace seeks to re-establish the sacredness of nature through contemporary forms.

Si-Qin’s work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including The High Line, New York, Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt, Musée d’Art Moderne, Paris, UCCA, Beijing, Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, and Kunsthalle Wien. He has participated in the Bangkok Art Biennale, Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale, Riga International Biennial, the 9th Berlin Biennale, and the Taipei Biennial. His work is held in collections including Moderna Museet, Stockholm, ICA Miami, the Julia Stoschek Foundation, and the Sammlung des Bundes, Bonn.
