Srijon Chowdhury (b. 1987, Dhaka, Bangladesh) is an American contemporary painter whose work combines realism, symbolism and surrealist imagery. Drawing on religion, mythology, poetry, the occult and art history, Chowdhury creates intensely saturated compositions in which familiar subjects are transformed into dreamlike and psychologically charged environments.

His paintings move between the physical and metaphysical, often using flowers, bodies and landscapes as carriers of symbolic meaning. References range from medieval manuscripts and biblical imagery to William Blake and the sixteenth-century philosopher Giulio Camillo. Through these sources, Chowdhury explores mortality, spirituality, memory and humanity’s relationship to the natural world, creating images in which beauty and unease, the everyday and the supernatural continually overlap.

Chowdhury received his BFA in Studio Art from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2009 and his MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles in 2013. His first solo museum exhibition, Same Old Song, was presented at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle in 2022. Recent solo exhibitions include Tapestry at P·P·O·W, New York (2024), and The Whorled at Ciaccia Levi, Paris (2025).
