Maxime Ballesteros

Strong, surreal as much as anchor in reality, the French photographer lives to take pictures, with striking empathy. His photographs show fragments of the world where subjective and objective, candid and staged are of equal importance. He shoots photographs in the moment, following his protagonists wherever they take him.
Ballesteros has been creating images for two decades, his distinctive work has been featured in fashion and art magazines such as 032c, Purple, Interview or i-D. He has collaborated with institutions including La Horde, l’Opéra de Paris or Berliner Ensemble, artists such as Frank Ocean, Destroy Lonely and a number of brands across the globe including On Running, Acne Studio, Mercedes-Benz, or Ssense. In 2017, Ballesteros published his first monograph, ‘Les Absents’, published Hatje Cantz & Sang Bleu.
