The BERG (b. 1998, Istanbul) is a Munich based artist working across installation, text, and performance. His practice is grounded in conceptual rigor and frequently engages directly with the architecture and institutional conditions of the spaces it inhabits. His works are not simply situated within exhibitions but actively interrogate their environments, transforming them into sites of reflection, negotiation, and provocation. He examines the relationships between artist, audience, image, and space, treating each project as a form of analytical research.

Often employing humor, bureaucracy, and subtle reversals of agency, his works challenge conventional structures of participation, authority, and reception. Gestures of restriction, withdrawal, exaggerated appreciation, or fabricated administrative procedures become tools through which he exposes and playfully destabilizes the mechanisms that govern artistic production and display. Through this approach, The BERG develops a practice that is at once critical, self-reflexive, and sharply attuned to the social rituals of the art world.

The BERG studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München with Olaf Metzel and Julius von Bismarck, and completed his diploma as a Meisterschüler in Peter Kogler’s class. In 2026, he graduated with the Debütant*innenpreis.
