Konrad Weichs
Biography
Konrad Weichs (b. 1999, Sauerland, Germany) is a painter based in Berlin. He studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where he developed a figurative practice centred on the body and the construction of contemporary masculinity.
Working primarily in oil, Weichs explores vulnerability, intimacy and self-perception through figures that often appear caught between confidence and uncertainty. His paintings employ strong contrasts, compressed spaces and carefully staged gestures, using the male body as a site through which ideas of identity, desire and emotional exposure can be examined. At the same time, his approach remains self-reflexive, questioning the conventions through which masculinity has historically been represented in painting.
Weichs has participated in exhibitions in Germany and internationally, including A Light and a Heavy Body at Bonian Art Space, Beijing (2022), and What Is Steady Anyway? 250 Years of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf at Sammlung Philara, Düsseldorf (2023). More recent presentations include Oh Boy with Annika Horn at salotto.projects and exhibitions in Berlin.
